About Parkwood Camera Club

Parkwood Camera Club in Rainham Kent is affiliated to the Kent County Photographic Association and the Photographic Association of Great Britain (PAGB). We are a vibrant and growing club founded in 1980 so we are a fairly young club compared to other clubs that originated earlier in the 1990's. However membership has been growing steadily and we now one of the larger clubs in the Kent area.

The club has a digital projector which complements the new digital projection facilities at the Parkwood community centre. We have also purchased brand new Bowens studio lighting to further improve the variety of studio lights available on studio night shoots. The studio lights are available for members to hire at reasonable fees. Calibration of members' computer monitor screens and printers can also be arranged by the club for a very small fee. Both of these are benefits of club membership in addition to the programme of events during the year.

The club’s varied programme includes competitions, organised studio sessions, lectures from knowledgeable guest speakers, photographic outings, and hands-on demonstrations.

Each year the winner of our premier internal club competition is presented with the much coveted Parkwood Cup trophy. This competition consists of three rounds and the member gaining the most points during the year is presented with the trophy to keep for the following year. We also hold competitions with other local clubs throughout the year.

Our friendly club evenings, on a Monday, also include regular interactive/social evenings where we just socialise and exchange information to help each other to improve our photography.

We are based in Parkwood, Rainham, and our members come from all over the Medway Towns, including some from as far away as Ashford and Essex. The club meets at Parkwood Community Centre except for the 2nd Monday in each month, and some other dates, when we meet at the 44 Two Social Club in Gillingham. (See Programme).

We were one of the first camera clubs in Kent to have a website back in the early days of the internet, in the late 1990s. We have developed our website information for both current and prospective members so they can find information about the club and photography in general.

We are currently taking on new members. If you would like to join, please contact Justin Kent
