Parkwood Camera Club (Photographic Society) is a vibrant and growing photo club based in Rainham,Gillingham Kent founded in 1980 so have recently celebrated our 25th Anniversary. We celebrated with a variety of events to mark the occasion including an exhibition of our print work. We have recently been featured on the BBC website with a selection of our images. Over the last few years the club has grown substantially and is now one of the larger clubs in Kent with over 40 members.
We were one of the first camera clubs in Kent to have a website back in the early days of the web in 1997. We have developed our website information for both current and prospective members plus visitors to find out more about the club and photography in general.
Our exhibition at Hempstead Valley shopping Centre, Gillingham, 14 May 2005
The club has recently invested in state of the art digital projector which complements the new digital projection facilties at the Parkwood community centre. We have also purchased brand new Bowens studio lighting to further improve the variety of studio lights available on studio night shoots. The studio lights are available for members to hire at reasonable fees.
We are a group of Kent photographers who meet regularly to share our enjoyment of photography and use our cameras. Although we are based in Rainham, our members are from all over the Medway Towns and Kent area including Gillingham, Hempstead, Rainham, Chatham, Rochester, Strood, Walderslade and some from as far away as Maidstone,Detling,Newington, High Halstow and Cuxton.
Parkwood Photographic Society meets at Parkwood Community Centre in Rainham and has a varied programme including studio nights, lectures and hands-on demonstrations. A three round internal club competition is run throughout the year with a trophy, the Parkwood Cup, for the member with the highest points. We also have competitions with other clubs during the year. The club has its own studio equipment for studio nights and has recently invested in a Spyder monitor calibration tool that is available for members to loan to calibrate their computer monitors.
New members are always welcome, please e-mail or contact a member of the committee for more information.
